T Minus 6 Days

A friend of mine asked if I was going to blog at all while we're on another round of crazy adventures and so I'm planning on giving it a try. I thought about starting my own blog, but then realized that it required me to come up with a clever blog name and everything I thought of was either overly punny and alliterative ("A Trillion Travels") or unoriginal ("Oh The Places We Go"). So for now, I'll just use the travel blog my brother made me an admin for so I could help document our Europe adventures from the summer of 2011.

In a little less than a week I begin what I hope is a smooth and sleep filled trip to Thailand. When we looked into getting tickets to Thailand, it was much cheaper to have the tickets leave from Chicago than Columbus, so Barrett talked me into booking the tickets leaving separately. Also, I should mention that Barrett will be leaving for the trip from Minneapolis, and I from Columbus, with us reuniting in Chicago. We then looked into booking tickets to Chicago. I began to stress about somehow having our planes to Chicago being canceled, causing us to miss all the rest of our flights. I then came up with the idea of taking an overnight bus ride to Chicago, that will have us get into Chicago at 6:15 am, in plenty of time for our 3 pm flight :) It seemed like a good idea at the time...  This means we will be leaving at 10:30 pm on the 12th, and not reach our destination of Krabi, Thailand until 9:20 am October 15th. So yeah, we will be having some long days of travel.

For those of you wondering, here is where we'll be for the two-and-a-half months leading up to Christmas.

Oct 15-20: Ko Lanta, Thailand
Oct 20-December 15: Singapore
Dec 15-21: Sydney, Australia
Dec 21-24: Fiji
Dec 25: Arrive home for Christmas!

Barrett will be working in Singapore for Merck, a pharmaceutical company, as part of MIT's practice school. We'll be there with the same group of 8 that was with us in Minneapolis, where they worked for General Mills. I feel so incredibly lucky to get to go along and see the world and delay getting a real job for another couple of months :)

Here's where we're staying in Ko Lanta. It's called Layana Resort and Spa, and hopefully worth traveling two days for.
